An explainer — we do not resell messages

How Meta charges for WhatsApp messages

This page is not selling you anything. It exists so you understand your Meta invoice before it arrives, not after.

Who pays whom

There are two parties and two entirely separate bills: the platform subscription you pay us, and the WhatsApp messages you pay Meta.

We are not an intermediary in the second one and we never see it. You attach your own payment method to your own WhatsApp Business account, and Meta charges it directly.

You and Meta

You add a card or payment method to your WhatsApp Business account. Meta charges you for messages at its rates.

You and us

You pay the platform subscription. Fixed, predictable, and unrelated to how many messages you sent.

Us and Meta

Nothing. We neither buy nor resell messages, and your invoice never passes through us.

Fasla Cloud takes a 0% margin on messages. Our only revenue is the platform subscription — and if that ever changes, this page changes first.

The four message categories

Meta does not charge per message, it charges per **kind** of message. And the gap is not small — a marketing message can cost around 18 times a utility one.

Your replies inside the 24-hour window after a customer messages you.

Any reply to a customer enquiry within 24 hours of their message.

These are indicative USD figures from Meta's published lists and vary by the recipient's country. Meta revises them on its own schedule — the invoice you receive from Meta is the only authority. The pound figure is approximate, converted at 50 EGP to the dollar (September 2026): Meta bills in USD, and what actually leaves your account is set by your card issuer on the day it settles.

The 24-hour window

The most important concept in WhatsApp pricing, and the most commonly misunderstood.

The moment a customer messages you, a 24-hour window opens in which you can reply with any content and as many messages as you like — with no approved template and at no cost.

Every new message from the customer resets the clock. But once 24 hours pass without one, the window closes, and you can only reach them with an approved template — which is the thing you get charged for.

The practical consequence: the faster you reply, the less you pay. A team that answers within an hour has a materially smaller invoice than one that answers in two days — on exactly the same number of conversations.

The price depends on the recipient’s country

Meta prices by the country of the recipient's number, not yours. A marketing message to an Egyptian number costs differently from one to a Saudi number, which differs again from a UK number.

So if your customers span several countries, your average campaign cost is not a single figure — it moves with the composition of the list itself.

The platform estimates a campaign's cost before you send, based on the rates set in your workspace settings — which you can adjust to match Meta's rates in your market.

Daily messaging limits

This is not pricing, it is a ceiling. Meta caps how many **new** numbers you can start a conversation with in 24 hours, and the cap rises on its own as your account quality holds.

TierHow you reach it
250 numbers / dayThe default tier for any new number.
1,000 numbers / dayAfter business verification and acceptable number quality.
10,000 numbers / daySustained high-quality use with few block reports.
100,000 numbers / dayConsistently high volume while holding quality.
UnlimitedFor the highest-volume accounts after Meta review.

Your replies to customers who messaged you do not count against this cap. It applies only to conversations you initiate.

How to read your Meta invoice

The invoice comes from Meta, not from us, and it is in the same place every time:

  1. Open Meta Business Manager with the account that owns your WhatsApp Business account.
  2. Choose Billing & payments from the menu.
  3. Select the WhatsApp account linked to your number.
  4. You will find the breakdown by category (Marketing / Utility / Authentication) and by country.
  5. Compare those figures with your campaign reports here — the sent counts should line up.

Ours is an **estimate**, based on the rates configured in your workspace settings. Meta prices by each recipient's country and revises its rates, so the estimate approximates rather than matches. The invoice is the authority.
